One of the key design criteria for the Nialli Visual Planner application is to encourage and facilitate discussions, promises and commitments that are integral to the Last Planner System. When using the system at a Nureva Wall or other interactive technology, the system emulates the discussions that would typically take place at an analog board in a typical big room environment. Many people can be simultaneously working at the interactive wall, similar to the way they would work at a stick-note wall.  

While we have used technology to eliminate waste and improve workflows, we have designed the system to ensure these conversations continue to take place. For example, it is possible to automate the movement of dependent tags when a tag is moved. However, this may result in both a lack of awareness on affected trades, but can also miss an opportunity to discuss and find ways of mitigating changes to the schedule.
